Jobs/Roles in the ECE Community: Internationally

The three international organizations that were most appealing to me are as follows:

1 The Academy for Educational Development

This is a great organization, Something like I have never seen before. I say this because this organization is not only based on children and families but the community as a whole. This organization ensures that the community has the opportunity to reach their highest potential. The values of this organization reflect diversity and accountability in which I think are great aspects.

2. International Step-by-Step Association

I explored this website to see what it was about. I’ve learned not to assume anything about an organization based on its title. This organization ensures that every child has the opportunity to develop to his or her potential. What I liked most about the organization is that they provide it members with professional development and capacity building. I think this is a great tool because many people within the community may not have an opportunity to experience professional development and I feel, as this was a great resource for members.

3. Save the Children
I fell in love with this organization because it gave me the feel of  a missionary organization. It helps improve the lives of millions of children around the world. This organization has programs in 120 countries all over the world. They are not just one big organization, but many comprised into one working towards efforts to improve health education and economic opportunities.

  1. Hello Angela,

I have to agree with you about the International Step by Step Association. After researching the organization, I was very impressed. This organization does not have any job opportunities but I am considering becoming a member. It is awesome that it provides professional development opportunities. I think that this would be a great CoP. Individual members will have the opportunity to collaborate on ideas or concerns that are of personal and professional interest.

I too researched Save the Children. This organization touched my heart. This organization provides for the whole child which is good. Their overall intention is to ensure that the well being of all children are taken care of. We know that children need academics but there are children who need food, medicine, and shelter in order to survive. I would definitely like to be a part of an organization like this.

    Thanks for sharing you thoughts.

  2. Angela,
Thank you for sharing. The Academy for Educational Development seems to be an organization that many communities could benefit from. Many times where early childcare professionals get lost is when they think that focusing on the development of the child is enough. The truth is we must work to foster the community and the environment that the child is developing in. Many are starting to get the whole scope of it all and are now moving forward with making changes.

  3. Angela- Thank you for sharing the websites that you researched. It was difficult for me to narrow down the positives to post on my blog.

In all of the organizations, it is so important to incorporate the community into the early care and education of young children. This has been increasing in my community. Has it in yours as well?

    Thank you for sharing!

  4. Angela,
Thank you for investigating the Step-by-Step website! It made me do the same! The concept that I liked best about their early childhood program is that they promote leadership and responsibility in children by teaching them how to not only make decisions, but also to accept responsibility for their choices!I think that this is a very important concept in today's global world!
