Micro aggressions

This weeks assignments has given me the opportunity not only to learn about micro aggressions but reflect on how I may have participated in it as well. I regret to say that I have offended my dearest collegues with this behavior. We were talking about a reading program that had newly been introduced in our curriculum and she shared with me how different it was when she was teaching. I made the remark "how was it back in the day?" I made a reference that she was old. Her facial expression changed and all.I felt so bad and immediately apologized for my remark. I spoke without thinking and I could have caused damage in our realtionship. I now realize how fatal simple words can be because of this weeks assignment.

My Family Culture

The three items that I would take with me would be a photo album, my bible my iPod. I would take my photo album because my family takes so many picture of every moment we share together, from dinners to weddings to baby showers. Pictures tell so many stories and savor so many memories. I would take my bible because all of my strength has stemmed from this book. My faith my courage and my life depends on his word and I take it wherever I go. Lastly music is my escape. Everyone has a way to relax and music is my favorite. Music can put me in any mood that I desire. If I could keep just one of the items, it would be my bible. I feel as if this was a great exercise because it has caused me to examine the most important things in my life that have had a great impact on my life.
